This course is intended for maintenance or construction workers who will be disturbing asbestos-containing building materials by performing minor asbestos abatement or who may disturb asbestos-containing materials during the performance of other work.  The course will provide attendees with:

• Background of asbestos and its use in building materials

• history of building materials made with asbestos

• Health effects of asbestos exposure

• Regulatory requirements for building owners who have buildings with asbestos-containing materials.

• Classification of asbestos abatement procedures

• Detailed review of Type 1 and Type 2 asbestos work procedures

• Respirator training including

  • Respirator selection

  • Respirator care and maintenance

  • Qualitative fit testing

• Hands-on demonstration of asbestos abatement work

  • Type 2 enclosure construction

  • Glove Bag removal

 

Included in this course:

• All materials and equipment for Type 2 enclosure construction

• All materials and equipment for Glove Bag removal

• One half face respirator (small, medium or Large as required) and P100 filters.

Note:  This course will prepare attendees to perform Type 1 and Type 2 asbestos work only.  Type 3 asbestos workers require certification from the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities (MTCU).  This course does not meet the requirements of MTCU Type 3 training. 

 

Attendees who complete this course will receive a certificate of attendance.
